The residents of Tuzha could not bring in firewood due to the new sidewalks along the highway.
Last year, along the federal highway Cheboksary – Yoshkar-Ola – Kirov – Syktyvkar, contractors equipped sidewalks and installed barrier fences. However, the project did not provide for driveways to private properties on Naberezhnaya and Traktovaya streets in the village of Tuzha.
As a result, residents lost the ability to bring fuel to their homes and call special equipment for pumping sewage. Moreover, in case of an emergency, neither fire crews nor ambulance vehicles would be able to reach the buildings.
With the onset of winter, the problem worsened: sidewalks stopped being cleared of snow, making it difficult for people to leave their yards. Some had to take up shovels themselves and do the work for the contractor.
Appeals to local authorities did not yield results regarding the organization of driveways or winter cleaning. Then citizens turned to the Popular Front for assistance.
After public intervention, the road owner — the Federal State Institution "Uprdor Prikamye" — dismantled the excessive barrier fences. In addition, the prosecutor's office, which activists also approached, issued a representation to the head of the MO Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Yaransk" for inadequate control over snow removal during the winter period.

In the private sector along Naberezhnaya and Traktovaya streets, people found themselves cut off from the outside world. The improvement of the federal road resulted in the absence of exits to homes, and in winter, snowdrifts accumulated that no one cleared away.
