Almost 50 thousand residents of Kirov work in harmful conditions.
On April 28, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work is celebrated, and local statistics have timed a fresh report for this date regarding the Kirov region. According to observation data from the end of last year, 48.4 thousand people were employed in jobs with harmful or dangerous conditions (excluding small businesses in a number of sectors).
The health of employees is most often affected by the severity of the work process (25.2% of the total workforce) and noise with ultrasound and infrasound (22.6%). The chemical factor is noted among 9.5% of workers. Other risks, from vibration to ionizing radiation, occur less frequently, ranging from 2.4% to 0.1%.
The majority of employees in harmful conditions are concentrated in manufacturing industries — 70.8% of the total number of such workers. This is followed by transport and storage (9%), agriculture and forestry (8%), as well as energy (6%). Construction accounts for 3.5%, and the communal sector for 2.3%.
Almost all workers employed in harmful conditions undergo medical examinations (100%) and receive free special clothing (97.3%). Increased pay is provided for 95.6%, while a reduced workday is only available to 2.7%. Early retirement can be arranged for 34.1%, and milk or equivalent products are received by 18%.
In 2025, organizations in the region spent 3.1 billion rubles on compensations and personal protective equipment. On average, this is 13.7 thousand rubles for each eligible employee. The largest expense items are special clothing and personal protective equipment (1.6 billion) and salary supplements (0.8 billion). The Central Bank reported a historic shortage of employees in Russia. Only 22% of Kirov residents agree to a six-day workweek with an eight-hour workday. There is a shortage of sellers for everyone: Kirov retail is transitioning to "universal" employees with salaries up to 50 thousand.
