The children from Mokrushino no longer wave at buses with their hands.
The school bus previously did not enter Mokrushino due to the absence of official stops, the press service of the All‑Russia People’s Front (ONF) said. Moreover, regular route buses often drove past: people literally had to wave their arms and jump to get the driver’s attention. Meanwhile the bus is the only way to reach the “mainland,” where the shop, the feldsher‑midwife station (FAP) and the school are located.
Children suffered especially. When the bus broke down, the kids were forced to walk almost two kilometers along the shoulder of a busy highway to the Burmakino stop — through mud or snowdrifts, in the dark.
For several years residents tried to secure the installation of bus shelters, but without success. Then they appealed to the president’s direct line. The People’s Front sent an appeal to the prosecutor’s office, which is now conducting an inspection, including on the question of compensating the family for expenses incurred in transporting their children to school.
Before the New Year, bus shelters and road signs were installed in Mokrushino. Now the school bus officially enters the village, and children can once again get to classes safely.
