The quarantine zone in Kirov was expanded due to a dangerous forest pest.

According to the agency's order, the quarantine zone now covers an area of 15,800 hectares. The decision was made after specialists detected new outbreaks of the Ussuri polygraph covering 999 hectares. Changes have been made to the existing order dated September 1, 2025.

The Ussuri polygraph is a bark beetle that damages spruces weakened by weather conditions or other factors. The insect reproduces rapidly and can destroy large areas of coniferous forest.

Rosselkhoznadzor emphasized that the measures are aimed at containing the outbreaks and preventing the spread of the pest. As part of the regime, restrictions are being imposed on the removal of timber, bark and other potentially infested materials from the infested area.
