Oleg Valenchuk: Poroshino is Kirov residents' favorite place to relax, and it will be that way forever!
To clarify the situation, we turned to State Duma deputy from Kirov Oblast Oleg Valenchuk, who more than 20 years ago was among the founders of the Poroshino sports and tourist complex and has been its ideological driving force ever since.
– Oleg Dorianovich, to begin with the main question: will Poroshino be preserved in the form beloved by Kirov residents — as the main place for active recreation near the regional center?
– I’ll immediately reassure you and all Kirov residents. There is no doubt about that! The ski trail, the Health Trail, the slides, the exercise equipment, and everything necessary for comfortable family recreation and sports will remain here. Thousands of Kirov residents come here to spend their time usefully and improve their health. Does anyone really think people can be deprived of such joy just like that? Of course not!
Indeed, a situation arose related to certain inconsistencies in the regulatory framework governing the use of forest plots. Our state bodies and supervisory authorities act within the framework of the law and their departmental instructions, which, let’s say, sometimes contradict each other. We in the State Duma are constantly working to improve the legal framework and, believe me, there is still a great deal of work to be done. To resolve such situations, our rule-of-law state has an Arbitration Court. It examined the case and issued a fair and well-founded decision. All structures on this forest plot — animal enclosures, the rope park, canopies, resting gazebos, retail outlets, lamps, benches — were recognized as lawfully erected. That removes all questions regarding the Health Trail and the area adjacent to the forest.
– And will the slides, so beloved by Kirov’s little ones, open this winter?
– Of course, no child will be left without their favorite pastime. I have taken the situation with the slides under my personal control. There are certain technical requirements specified in the documents of Gostechnadzor (the State Technical Supervision Authority). Therefore, we will carry out reconstruction now, and the slides will be ready by the winter season.
You understand perfectly well that we all live in an information age. And sometimes a sensational headline in the media or an emotional post on social networks can blow ordinary operational matters up into a scandal. In reality, all these issues are being resolved. Believe me, the people I consider my like-minded colleagues, my team, and my family have for many years invested not only considerable funds in Poroshino but also their heart and soul. At their own expense, without any budgetary contributions, they prepare the ski trail in winter, installed lighting on the Health Trail, built the slides, organized free parking for vehicles, and are constantly working on landscaping the area. And the main reward is the grateful feedback from the city’s residents and the happy faces of our children. Of course, no one will be tearing anything down or destroying anything here.
The sports and tourist complex will only continue to develop. On this issue we have full understanding with the Governor of Kirov Oblast Alexander Sokolov, with the regional government, and with the administration of the city of Kirov. Poroshino is the favorite recreational spot of Kirov residents, and it will remain so forever!

Last week Kirov was set abuzz by a rumor: in Poroshino they were closing the locals' beloved "Health Trail" and the entertainment complex with slides. However, denials soon came from representatives of Gostekhnadzor, and on October 7 it emerged that the Arbitration Court had annulled the document ordering the demolition of the temporary structures built on the site.
