The grain harvest is nearing completion in Kirov Oblast.
In Kirov Oblast, the harvesting of grain crops is drawing to a close. As of October 7, 253.6 thousand hectares have been harvested, and the total yield amounted to 693.1 thousand tonnes — 91% of the plan. The average yield reached 28 centners per hectare, which is six centners more than last year.
Work in the fields is being complicated by overcast weather and low nighttime temperatures. Under such conditions, moisture evaporates poorly from the soil, leading to waterlogging and hindering harvesting.
Despite this, farms in the region have collected over 1 thousand tonnes of vegetables and 22.4 thousand tonnes of potatoes. These figures exceed last year's results by about 1 thousand tonnes.
