The number of traffic violations at railway crossings in Kirov Oblast has decreased.

      In the Kirov Region, 48 traffic violations at railroad level crossings were recorded for January–August 2025. This is 4% less than in the same period last year, the press service of the Gorky Railway reported.

      However, it was not possible to completely avoid incidents: over the eight months one road traffic accident occurred at a level crossing in the region. By comparison, no such collisions were recorded in 2024.

      Overall on the Gorky main line, 169 traffic violations at crossings have been recorded since the beginning of the year (a 10% decrease compared with 2024) and five accidents involving trains, in which four people were injured.

      To improve safety, railway workers are repairing and modernizing crossings, equipping them with additional protective systems, and have stepped up preventive work with drivers. Since the beginning of the year, nearly 1,400 joint patrols have been conducted with the transport police, during which more than 143,000 motorists were reminded of the rules for crossing the tracks.

      Railway workers urge drivers to be attentive when passing level crossings and to strictly observe traffic rules to avoid tragedies.
