In Kirov Oblast, a man had his driver's license revoked because of a mental illness.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Nemsky District of Kirov Oblast conducted an inspection of compliance with road traffic safety legislation. During the inspection it was established that a 35-year-old resident of the district, who holds a driver’s license, has been registered with a psychiatrist since December 2023 due to a mental illness. According to the law, citizens with medical contraindications cannot operate vehicles, as this creates a threat to the life and health of road users. The supervisory authority applied to the court with a request to terminate the man’s access to driving a car. The court found the prosecutor’s demands lawful and justified and granted the claim. The enforcement of the decision is under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
