They began to read the verdict to Voronov.

On Wednesday, September 24, the Kirov Regional Court began announcing the verdict in the case of Colonel Voronov. The hearing began at 10 a.m.

According to our correspondent, the defendant appears fairly calm: even before the hearing began he was on his phone, occasionally glancing at the courtroom. "He feels confident, but it is clear that he is a little nervous," court officials say.

Recall that the prosecution intended to demand that the former deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kirov region, Andrei Voronov, be sentenced to 7 years in a strict‑regime penal colony, fined 38 million rubles, and stripped of state awards. The hearing in the case was held behind closed doors on September 22.

According to the investigation, at the end of 2023 Voronov received a bribe in the form of a car with a rental value of more than 700,000 rubles, arranged through a company under his control. In addition, he issued unlawful orders to subordinates to accept credits without their being actually taken.

The violations were uncovered by FSB officers, after which the materials were transferred to the Investigative Committee. The former colonel is accused of receiving a large bribe and exceeding his official powers.
