Most Kirov residents supported raising pension supplements to the minimum wage.
According to a SuperJob survey, 65% of Kirov residents support the bill in one form or another. Fifty-nine percent fully approve of it, 4% support only an increase in payments for the elderly, and a further 2% only for people with disabilities. Five percent of participants opposed the initiative, and 30% were unsure.
The older the respondents, the higher the level of support. Among young people under 35, 60% approve of the initiative; among 35–45‑year‑olds, 66%; and among citizens over 45, 69%.
Kirov residents earning more than 100,000 rubles were more likely than lower‑income residents to express either support or opposition. Among the arguments in favor were “miserly pensions” and a lack of funds among the elderly. Opponents fear that implementing the bill would lead to accelerated inflation.
