In Kirov, meltwater from a snow landfill pollutes the river
Employees of the Ministry of Environmental Protection conducted an inspection of the urban snow landfill located near the village of Pushkari. It turned out that meltwater from the landfill drains into the Cherevitsa River, and debris and waste are present in the snow masses.
To assess possible environmental damage, experts took water samples, which were sent for laboratory tests. Already at the inspection stage, experts recorded a violation of the rules for the protection of water bodies.
An official warning will be issued to the organization responsible for the operation of the landfill. If contamination is confirmed and a threat to public health is identified, the Ministry will contact the prosecutor's office with a request for approval of an unscheduled inspection. Rosprirodnadzor, Rospotrebnadzor, the Kirov administration and the Environmental Prosecutor's office have also been notified of violations.
