Kirov residents began to save more: the volume of bank savings increased by a quarter
As of April 1, 2025, the total amount of funds deposited by citizens in deposits and other accounts with banks operating in the Kirov region exceeded 287 billion rubles. Over the year, the amount increased by almost 27%. The statistics do not include escrow accounts*.
Most of the savings — more than 98% — are stored in rubles. This amounts to about 282.7 billion rubles.
According to Sergey Kryukov, Head of the Kirov Branch of the Volga-Vyatka Main Directorate of the Bank of Russia, the growth of deposits is primarily due to the high key interest rate. It makes bank deposits more attractive and at the same time curbs interest in loans. According to the expert, this helps to reduce consumer demand and limits price increases. According to him, the additional inflow of funds is provided by budget and social payments.
