Russians are losing interest in football.
Today, May 25, is World Football Day. On this occasion, the SuperJob service, in collaboration with RIAN, conducted a survey involving 1,600 people.
"Eight years after the World Cup, interest in football has cooled. The share of regular fans has decreased from 7% to 5%, those who are occasionally interested have dropped from 11% to 9%, and the number of viewers who only watch major tournaments has fallen from 19% to 10%," the authors of the survey state. It turned out that devoted fans, who have a favorite team, follow tournaments, and regularly attend matches at stadiums, make up only 5% of the survey participants. Only nine percent watch matches of various levels periodically, and slightly more (10%) limit themselves to international games.
Men aged 45 and older are more interested in football – 10% of respondents in this age group consider themselves active fans.
The overwhelming majority of surveyed women – 86% – are not interested in football.
