The Central Bank stated there is a historic shortage of employees in Russia.
The situation in the labor market in Russia has reached a level not seen in the entire modern history of the country — the labor shortage has proven to be unprecedented. This was stated by the head of the Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, as reported by the publication "Vedomosti."
According to Nabiullina, the current indicators affect the entire economic situation in Russia.
Deputy head of the presidential administration Maxim Oreshkin confirmed that the country is experiencing a shortage of resources and personnel, which hinders economic development. Moreover, he stated that structural changes and the implementation of technologies are progressing slowly. At the same time, he noted that this is not related to internet restrictions in Russia.
A particularly alarming picture is emerging at the level of individual federal subjects. According to experts from the FinExpertiza group of companies, in the Kirov region, the number of potential candidates from the so-called "staff reserve" per one vacant position is only 0.62 people. This means that there is not even one ready candidate for each job in the region today, which is one of the lowest indicators in the Russian Federation.
For comparison: across the country, there are an average of 2.6 applicants for one vacancy, while in some regions of the North Caucasus, this figure reaches dozens and even hundreds of people per position. In such conditions, Kirov employers are effectively deprived of the opportunity to choose employees and are forced to lure staff from each other in fierce competition, which inevitably drives up wages and increases business costs.
At the same time, the absolute number of the staff reserve in the Kirov region is just over 12,000 people — while the total number of employed in the region's economy exceeds 570,000. Thus, even if all potential applicants simultaneously enter the labor market, they will not be able to fill even a small fraction of the available vacancies.
