There is a shortage of sellers everywhere: Kirov retail is transitioning to "universal" employees with a salary of up to 50,000.
The first quarter of 2026 showed that the staffing situation in Kirov's retail sector is not improving. Local chains and small stores continue to experience a severe shortage of employees for line positions — salespeople and cashiers. According to analysts from the hh.ru platform, over 1,200 vacancies in the retail sector were opened by employers in the Kirov region over three months. This is about 4% of all such offers in the Volga Federal District. At the same time, there is an average of 3.1 active resumes for each vacancy in the region — almost half the norm (4–8 applicants). Retail in the region continues to be one of the most deficient sectors.
But it's not just about quantity. The profile of the ideal candidate has changed. Employers are increasingly specifying requirements in job postings that were previously considered additional. Product placement appears in 5% of offers, active sales and consulting in another 4%, and working with the cash register in 3%. At the same time, requests for "soft" skills have increased: the ability to work in a team, handle pressure during overloads, and build dialogue with customers.
In fact, stores need not just an employee at the counter, but a versatile fighter who can simultaneously stock products, process transactions, and convince customers to return. Many companies are willing to invest in training newcomers rather than just looking for ready-made professionals.
As for salaries, the average salary offer in Kirov's retail sector stands at 49,800 rubles. This is slightly lower than the average in the Volga Federal District (52,200 rubles), but given the labor shortage, experts do not rule out further increases in rates for line personnel. Kirov companies retain employees with salaries and praise. Office fashion by the rules: 48% of Kirov employees adhere to a dress code. Employers are evaluated on social networks even by those who are not looking for a job.

There is a shortage of sellers everywhere: Kirov retail is transitioning to "universal" employees with a salary of up to 50,000.
In the Kirov region, retail trade continues to operate in a state of labor shortage. Only three people are competing for one position — this is half the norm. Employers are no longer just looking for salespeople, but are hunting for specialists who can simultaneously stock merchandise, work the cash register, and be the "face of the brand."
