In the Kirov Region, the number of animal burial sites has decreased sixteenfold.

Today the head of the Kirov Veterinary Department, Sergey Chuchalin, spoke at a plenary session of the Legislative Assembly. He presented a bill aimed at adjusting the procedures for eliminating livestock burial sites.

In response to a question from deputy Sergey Mamaev, Chuchalin said that in 2011, when the elimination of the burial sites began, there were 605 of them in the Kirov region. Now there are 36 — more than 16 times fewer. Sanitary protection zones are being established around the remaining sites. The work is under the supervision of the prosecutor's office.

However, Mamaev was not impressed by the steep drop in the figure. He expressed the view that no one is monitoring these burial sites, at least in some districts. Chuchalin struggled to answer. The chairman of the Legislative Assembly, Roman Beresnev, hastened to come to his aid and suggested that Mamaev obtain answers to his questions "in the normal course of business."
