Sinkhole on Popova Street: after three cars fell in, the prosecutor's office opened an investigation.
As previously reported, on the morning of November 15 the first vehicle — a "Chevrolet Niva" — fell into the hole. The next day two more cars drove into it. The hole in the road is the result of work by the municipal utility company "Vodokanal."
In earlier published statements, "Vodokanal" said the work turned out to be significantly more complicated than anticipated. They had to revise the project and bring heavy machinery to the site. More details here.
The company plans to complete all work and site improvements by November 23.
Today, November 18, the prosecutor’s office reported that an inspection will be carried out to determine whether the earthworks were organized correctly and whether traffic safety was ensured. In addition, specialists will check complaints from Kirov residents with limited mobility: people complained that the sidewalk near the excavation is blocked with building materials and it is impossible to pass there.
The results of the inspection are being monitored by the Kirov Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The Leninsky District Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation after a series of incidents on Popov Street in Kirov, where three cars fell into an open trench within a couple of days.
