The Ministry of Transport is preparing to reopen airports closed since 2022.

The Ministry of Transport is preparing to reopen airports closed since 2022.

According to him, the opening will only be possible after the appropriate decisions by the authorities responsible for flight safety.

Of the 11 airports in the south and center of the country that temporarily suspended operations after the start of hostilities in Ukraine, eight remain closed: in Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don and Simferopol, RBC writes.

Over the past year and a half, operations have been restored at three airports. In May 2024 flights resumed in Elista, in July — Gelendzhik, and in September — Krasnodar.

Earlier, the governor of the Rostov region, Yuriy Slyusar, also expressed hope that Platov Airport in Rostov-on-Don would be able to begin accepting flights by the end of 2025.

As a reminder, yesterday, November 17, we reported that a plane from Kirov to Mineralnye Vody returned to Pobedilovo after takeoff. More details about the incident here.
