A teenager from Sanchursk saved a girl and received an award from the Federation Council.

The Federation Council hosted the 12th award ceremony for participants in the all‑Russian civic‑patriotic project "Children‑Heroes." Nineteen teenagers from across the country who had shown personal courage in emergency situations received awards. Among them was first‑year student of the Sanchursky Socio‑Economic Technical College, Konstantin Akhmataev.

In March 2025 the young man was walking along the riverbank with friends when he heard cries for help. A girl was standing on thin ice a few meters from the shore. While the boys were looking for something to use to help, the ice broke and the child fell into the water.

Without hesitation Konstantin plunged into the icy river, managed to grab the girl and pulled her ashore. After that he wrapped the child in his jacket and carried her to the nearest house.

For this act Akhmataev was previously thanked by EMERCOM officers of the Sanchursky District. Now the young man received a commemorative Federation Council medal "For Demonstrated Courage" and a letter of gratitude from the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. The award was presented to Konstantin by Senators Viktor Bondarev and Vyacheslav Timchenko.

Deputy Chair of the Federation Council and Hero of Russia Yuri Vorobyov noted that the ceremony took place on the eve of National Unity Day and thanked the parents, teachers and mentors of the young heroes for raising worthy citizens of Russia.
