Rosprirodnadzor failed to recover 6 million from an entrepreneur from Murashi.

The Western Ural Department of Rosprirodnadzor earlier filed a lawsuit against an individual entrepreneur from Murashi. Its representatives stated that the defendant's actions had caused environmental damage and demanded compensation in the amount of 6,283,405 rubles.

The court found that in 2023 Rosprirodnadzor inspectors identified violations, namely a large dump of sawdust and board offcuts covered with soil. It was located near a wood-processing enterprise in Murashi. Its area reached approximately 1,630 square meters. Moreover, there was no protective lining under the sawdust to protect the soil.

Experts took samples of the soil and sawdust. It turned out they contained pollutants: nitrite nitrogen (1.1 times the permissible level), petroleum products (1.4 times), volatile phenols (5.3 times), and formaldehyde (4.4 times). In 2024 the defendant was sent a demand for voluntary compensation, but Rosprirodnadzor did not receive such compensation, and therefore filed a lawsuit.

The defendant himself stated in court that he had fully compensated the environmental damage by carrying out land reclamation. This was confirmed by local officials.

As a result, the court of first instance ruled to dismiss the claims. Rosprirodnadzor appealed to the Second Arbitration Appellate Court, but it declined to change the decision.
