63% of Kirov residents want to be paid for unused vacation days.
Deputies of the "New People" party proposed introducing annual compensation payments for unused vacation days. With the corresponding appeal, the parliamentarians turned to Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov.
According to SuperJob, a majority of Kirov residents (63%) supported the initiative. "There should be the right of choice for every person — to take a vacation or receive compensation," the survey participants explained. Some noted that with high interest rates on deposits, the money received could be used profitably.
Ten percent of respondents spoke out against the idea, and another 27% found it difficult to answer. Among the arguments against it were fears that employers would abuse the opportunity not to let employees take vacations. "Vacation is rest. You cannot work without rest, and where work is associated with a risk to life and health, it is simply unacceptable," the respondents noted. Some city residents also reminded of the problem of "grey" wages, because of which compensations might turn out to be minimal.
Men are more likely than women to support the idea (68% versus 58%). There are more female opponents of the initiative (13% versus 6% among men). Young people under 35 are more often in favor (70%), and critics are fewest among them — 6%. Those who earn up to 50,000 rubles a month are more skeptical about the initiative (16% against).
Among workers who have unused vacation days left at the end of the year, the level of support reaches 77%, which is significantly higher than among those who manage to use all their days (58%).
