Sokolov took personal charge of the situation with the "sour-milk swamp" in Makarye
As reported by the regional government, specialists from the Ministry of Environmental Protection have already gone to the site and taken waste samples to determine their hazard class. Surface water samples were also collected from the Kurinka River, located approximately one and a half kilometers from the discharge site, to study the possible impact of the waste on the water body.
"Based on the results of the inspection, measures will be taken to prevent further environmental damage. Those responsible for the pollution will be held accountable in accordance with the law," said Timur Abashev, Minister of Environmental Protection of the Kirov Region.
Earlier, activists from the "People's Front" reported a "soured-milk swamp" near the village of Makarye, where, according to them, tractors regularly arrive and pour out a liquid with the smell of soured milk. The activists sent an appeal to the ministry asking it to carry out an inspection.
