A Kirov resident was sentenced to 5.5 years for "fake news" about the special military operation and for rehabilitating Nazism.
A sentence has been handed down in Kirov against a local resident accused of rehabilitating Nazism and disseminating false information about the Armed Forces of Russia. This was reported by the FSB directorate for Kirov Oblast.
According to the agency, the man publicly insulted deceased participants of the special military operation on the internet and also posted materials that, the investigation found, contained false and discrediting information about the actions of Russian servicemen.
The criminal case was investigated by the investigative department of the Investigative Committee for Kirov Oblast. The Kirov resident was charged under Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Rehabilitation of Nazism) and paragraph “d” of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code (Public dissemination of knowingly false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation).
The Kirov Regional Court found the man guilty and sentenced him to 5.5 years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony and a fine of 500,000 rubles.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
