Alcohol production in Russia has increased.

      In just one month, 16.4 million decaliters of alcohol were produced in the country — excluding beer, cider, poiré and mead, Kommersant reports, citing data from Rosalkogoltabak Control (RATK). Growth has been recorded for the fifth consecutive month, although its pace is gradually slowing: while production rose by almost 9% in June, the dynamics had decelerated by September.

      At the same time, over the first nine months of 2025 the total volume of alcohol output, by contrast, fell by 9.1% — to 120.8 million decaliters. Experts explain this by producers’ aggressive ramp-up of production at the end of 2024 in anticipation of higher excise duties and minimum prices, which led to overproduction and a drop in volumes at the start of the year.

      Trends differ by type of beverage:

      - production of spirits (excluding vodka and cognac) rose by 17%, to 1.1 million decaliters;

      - still wines — by 8.3%, to 2.9 million decaliters;

      - sparkling wines, by contrast, fell by 5.8%, to 1.82 million decaliters.

      Analysts note that the market is gradually recovering; however, stable growth can be expected no earlier than the end of the year.
