A female student from Kirov fought back against scammers.
In Kirov, a 21-year-old university student managed to fend off phone scammers. This was reported by the regional office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It all began when a woman who introduced herself as an employee of the dean’s office called the student and asked her to provide personal data without explaining why. When the student ended the call, other people began calling, identifying themselves as representatives of various agencies — from "Gosuslugi" to Rosfinmonitoring and the FSB. The callers claimed that a loan had been taken out in her husband’s name and that the money had allegedly been transferred to Ukraine. They demanded that she follow their instructions and take out a "counter" loan to avoid criminal liability.
Despite the pressure and intimidation, the student did not believe the fraudsters and immediately contacted the police. A criminal case has been opened on charges of fraud on a particularly large scale.
