For the 13th time this wonderful event brought together under one roof the most active and enthusiastic gardeners and vegetable growers of the district. This year the contest coincided with the International Day of Older Persons, which added a special meaning and warmth to the festive atmosphere. Although it was hard to find participants who could be called "old men" or "old women." Each of them is full of energy and eager to create beauty around them. They grow organic produce not only for themselves but also for their loved ones, sharing the fruits of their labor with neighbors and acquaintances.

This year the jury evaluated participants' entries in several categories. The most popular contests were "My Native Home," "Flowers — My Joy," and "Bountiful Beds." Participants happily presented their achievements in the foyer of the cultural and leisure center; while the jury deliberated, the audience was entertained by veteran accordionist Nikolai Zavyalov. The women from the ensemble "Russian Melodies" supported him with their singing.

For active participation and the development of gardening and horticulture, 15 veterans received well-deserved awards from the chairman of the Union of Gardeners of Russia, Oleg Valenchuk. Among the awardees was Olga Blinova from the village of Russky Turek, who has repeatedly won the competition and even received the grand prize. She actively participates in the life of her village, sings in the ensemble, and attends meetings of the Rukodelnitsa Handicraft Club.

"Our gardeners are people with golden hands; they have once again proven that no caprices of the weather or hardships deter them, and that experience, diligence, and love for the land will surely bear fruit," Oleg Valenchuk noted. "Our deep gratitude to you for your active life stance, for your willingness and readiness to take part in the social life of the district, and for ensuring food stability in your families — and therefore in the country."

In the "Bountiful Beds" category the winners were V. Filippovykh (Russkoye Timkino), L. Solovyova (Baysa), G. Mokoseeva (Andreyevsky) and E. Gilyazova (Savinovo). These participants demonstrated not only abundant harvests but also original approaches to gardening. In the "My Native Home" category awards went to N. Kozhevnikov (Petrovskoye), F. Gradoboeva (Andreyevsky) and N. Zavyalov (Bogdanovo), whose homes became true oases of comfort and beauty.
