Investments in biotech: an enzyme production facility will be established in the Kirov Region.
The project is being implemented under the patronage of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and is enshrined in an agreement with the ministry dated 14 December 2022 No. 020-11-2022-1596. It envisages the production of granular 2-, 3- and 5-component multi-enzyme compositions for household chemicals. These enzyme complexes are used in the manufacture of laundry powders and next-generation liquid detergents: they break down protein, fat and starch-based soils, increasing the effectiveness of detergents.
The future plant will have a capacity of up to 15,000 tonnes per year, which will allow fully meeting the needs of the Russian market and establishing a domestic base for the development of the chemical industry. In the context of sanctions the project takes on particular significance: it reduces dependence on imports and strengthens the country’s technological self-sufficiency.
The enzyme compositions being developed at the enterprise meet global quality standards and are comparable to products from companies such as Novozymes (Denmark), Kenko (China), Sunshine Industrial Corporation (China) and AB Enzymes (Germany). “Our goal is not just to create a new production facility, but to bring Russia up to world-class standards in enzyme technologies. The Vostok plant will become a site that provides the country with its own product and gives the market stability and predictability,” the company said.
Industrial-scale production is scheduled to begin in 2027–2028. The project will be presented on a federal platform — the BIOPROM forum in Gelendzhik on 6–7 October 2025, which takes place with the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and brings together representatives of science, business and government to discuss strategies for the development of biotechnology.
