Rospotrebnadzor reminded about necessary vaccinations for the elderly.
Additionally, depending on the region of residence or travel abroad, additional vaccinations may be required, RIA Novosti reports. Rospotrebnadzor noted that influenza and pneumococcal infection are particularly dangerous for the elderly, so it is important to get a flu shot every year and a pneumococcal vaccination once every five years. Both vaccines can be administered at the same time. It is also reminded that vaccination against diphtheria and tetanus is necessary every 10 years. For those living in areas at risk of tick-borne encephalitis, vaccination against this virus is recommended. When traveling to certain countries, yellow fever vaccination may be required — it should be done three weeks before departure.
