The head of Demyanovo refused to resign quietly.

The head of the administration of the Demyanovo urban settlement, Artyom Zabolotskikh, published a detailed post about his year in office, plans for the settlement’s development, and his willingness to fight for the right to remain in office through an open court process.

Zabolotskikh reminded readers that he assumed office on September 20, 2024, following direct elections and, he writes in his post, would like to meet residents in person to review the year’s work. In his address he claims that over the year he focused on uniting businesses and residents around the large-scale "Demyanovo Ecosystem" project, which, he says, received a positive assessment from the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and complies with the new municipal governance law (Federal Law No. 33-FZ).

The head of Demyanovo also reported that regional leadership had suggested he resign "of his own accord" and move to contract service in a less public capacity. Instead, he demands an "open and public" court process, should the matter go to court. Depending on the court outcomes, he will either continue his work or acknowledge the court’s decision and sign a contract with one of the Ministry of Defense’s assault units.

"The situation looks absurd when I am urged to abandon an initiative that complies with the new legislation and has been approved by federal bodies," Zabolotskikh noted.
