Butina in the kitchen: Slutsky was "grilled" with questions about the death penalty, nuclear war and his father
State Duma deputy from Kirov Oblast Maria Butina announced the launch of her interview project "Maria Butina's Political Kitchen" (12+). According to her, the format is devoted to the behind-the-scenes of political decisions and frank conversations with guests. Butina explains that "kitchen talks" in domestic culture have become a symbol of frankness in an era of bans.
The guest of the first episode, which was released today, September 24, was politician Leonid Slutsky.
Among the topics they discussed:
- why the word "liberal" has become a pejorative in Russia
- the tightening of migration legislation
- in which cases Slutsky is prepared to support lifting the moratorium on the death penalty
- the "Russia — Ukraine — the West" conflict and the risk of it escalating into a nuclear war
- the behind-the-scenes of the first Istanbul talks, where a peace treaty with Ukraine was discussed.
Butina noted that she also asked the politician personal questions: who his real father is, how he made his fortune, what he thinks of the '90s, whether he has remained friends with the Prince of Monaco, and whether he regrets his words and actions.
"It will really be hot in my political kitchen," the deputy promised on her Telegram channel.
