
On Sunday, residents of Kirov Oblast will be able to see a total lunar eclipse.
On the night of September 7–8 a total lunar eclipse will be visible in Kirov Oblast. This is the first eclipse in seven years for which all phases will be visible in the region. The total phase will last 1 hour 23 minutes, and the overall duration of the event, including the penumbral phases, will reach 5 hours 29 minutes. At the moment of maximum phase (from 21:11 to 21:53) the Moon will be completely immersed in Earth's shadow and will turn a dark red. The best viewing is away from city lights. Binoculars or a telescope will be useful, although the eclipse will also be visible to the naked eye. The next total lunar eclipse that can be observed in Kirov Oblast will not occur until December 31, 2028.
