Kirov speed skaters brought back 11 medals from the Summer Cup.
Skaters from 15 regions of the country and guests from Kazakhstan took part in the All-Russian speed skating competition "Summer Cup of the Union of Russian Speed Skaters." The athletes competed at distances of 500, 1000, 1500 and 3000 meters and performed in three age categories. Two hundred skaters came to contest the medals at the "Summer Cup."
Speed skaters from the Kirov region won 11 Summer Cup medals. The regional Ministry of Sport said that among the juniors Danil Varlygin distinguished himself, winning two gold medals at 1000 and 1500 meters and a silver at 500 meters. Kirill Shakhmatov won a bronze medal at 1500 meters. Anastasia Lyangasova took first place among the women at 1000 meters and second place at 1500 meters. She finished third in the 3000 meters.
Among the junior women Anastasia Bogushevskaya was third in the 1000 meters. And among the boys aged 16–17, Kirov skater Yakim Penkin won gold in the 3000 meters and two bronzes in the 1500 and 1000 meters.
