On August 20, a concerned local resident contacted the Slobodskoy intermunicipal department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. She reported that her live-in partner, born in 1978, was missing: on August 15 the man left home by car in an unknown direction and had not been heard from since.
Police in the Slobodskoy district organized a search for the man. They were able to determine the approximate direction of travel and identified an area near the village of Rodionovo where the missing person might have been.
Officers from the unit for the deployment and operation of robotic complexes and unmanned aerial systems of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs took part in the search. Using a drone, they discovered a small pond in the forest, and a domestic SUV was underwater. The missing man was at the wheel of the vehicle.
Authorities are currently establishing the circumstances of the man’s death. Preliminary information suggests the man lost control of the vehicle, drove into the body of water, and was unable to get out.
