In Slobodskoy, an elderly couple of mushroom pickers got lost in the forest.
On the evening of August 13, the Slobodskoy department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs was notified about two elderly local residents — a man born in 1946 and a woman born in 1947 — who had gone into the woods to pick mushrooms near the village of Stepkiny and become lost. At some point the elderly lost their bearings in the forest and separated. The woman came into mobile network coverage and called the Unified Dispatch Service at 112 to report what had happened.
Personnel from the Slobodskoy district police were assigned to search for the elderly couple, and volunteers from the LizaAlert team and concerned local residents also took part in the search.
Staff from the Department for the Use and Operation of Robotic Complexes and Unmanned Aerial Systems of the Center for Information Technologies, Communications and Information Protection of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs came from Kirov to participate in the search operations. They surveyed the area using a fixed-wing drone.
As a result of the efforts, just over a day later police officers and search teams first found the elderly woman and then her elderly companion. The mushroom pickers were helped out of the forest, given first aid, and returned home.
