An officer from Kirov Oblast was awarded the St. George’s Cross for rescuing soldiers under fire.
A resident of the Lesnoy settlement in the Verkhnekamsky District of Kirov Oblast, Vladimir N., known by the callsign "Ptitsa," has been awarded one of the highest military honors — the St. George's Cross. The officer led a group of fighters out from under mortar fire without casualties, successfully completing the assigned mission.
Vladimir has been taking part in the special military operation since the autumn of 2022. He began his service as a machine gunner in a motorized rifle squad, later becoming commander of an anti-aircraft missile unit, carrying out combat missions in the Luhansk People’s Republic, on the Avdiivka front. He currently continues to serve as a military psychologist.
According to Vladimir, under the conditions of the special military operation, comradeship and mutual support become the primary principles of service. Support from home also plays a huge role: humanitarian shipments, parcels, and letters help fighters cope with everyday difficulties and maintain morale.
The officer noted that his experiences have changed his outlook on life. According to him, service members value communication with their families much more now; every call and message has special importance. After the end of the special military operation, Vladimir plans to continue serving in the Armed Forces of Russia.
