The prosecutor's office ordered the Svechinsky administration to provide housing for a person with disabilities.

The prosecutor's office ordered the Svechinsky administration to provide housing for a person with disabilities.

As reported by the agency, the inspection found that the rights of a wheelchair user living in a municipal apartment had been violated. The man has had both legs amputated and uses a wheelchair. He lives in a municipal apartment, but his housing is not adapted for the use of assistive rehabilitation devices and does not provide unobstructed access outdoors for walks in the fresh air.

In October 2024 a municipal commission inspected the apartment, but after that the owner of the property, represented by the district administration, did not take measures to adapt the municipal housing to the needs of the wheelchair user. Defending the man's rights, the prosecutor filed a lawsuit asking the court to declare the municipality's inaction unlawful. The agency's claims were found to be justified, and the administration was ordered to forcibly remedy the identified violations of the law.

"Thanks to the prosecutor's intervention, the administration concluded a municipal contract to carry out work to adapt the disabled man's housing. The completion of this work is under the supervision of the prosecutor's office," the regional prosecutor's office reported.
