Today, August 18, at 02:33 the duty unit of IK-1 received a call about a fire in an apartment in the settlement of Kotchikha. By 02:36 a fire crew was already on its way to the address. On the third floor of the residential building the bathroom in one of the apartments caught fire. Departmental security officers promptly evacuated the residents and prevented the spread of the fire. The departmental firefighters who arrived shortly thereafter extinguished the blaze.
According to the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Kirov Region, six settlements with infrastructure and more than 30,000 residents, located far from units of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, are under the protection of correctional institutions' fire units. In the first half of this year, personnel of these fire units participated 24 times in extinguishing fires at facilities and in settlements outside the jurisdiction of the penal system. In addition, material assets worth more than 5.9 million rubles were saved.
