The State Duma proposed creating a photo bank for lost pets on "Gosuslugi."

Members of the State Duma Vladislav Davankov and Yaroslav Samylin sent a letter to Minister of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev proposing the creation of a unified federal photo bank for lost pets on the "Gosuslugi" platform. The parliamentarians noted that animal microchipping in Russia has not yet become widespread, complicating the process of locating owners for found pets, according to Gazeta.ru.

According to the deputies, artificial intelligence today can recognize cats and dogs with up to 98% accuracy. The proposed photo bank will allow citizens, shelters, and veterinary clinics to upload photos of found animals. The system will automatically compare these with a database of lost pets and notify owners of potential matches.

The deputies are confident that creating such a service will help solve an important social problem and demonstrate Russia's leadership in applying artificial intelligence technologies to address everyday challenges.
