In Kirov, an 80-year-old woman has again become a victim of remote fraud.
In Kirov, an elderly woman has again become a victim of a telephone fraud. This time, the attacker contacted her through the WhatsApp messenger and introduced himself as an employee of an organization allegedly engaged in the return of money stolen by remote criminals.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kirov region, an 80-year-old Kirov resident had already become a victim of such deception at the beginning of the year and was recognized as a victim in a criminal case. Then the investigator handed her a warning, explaining how to distinguish fraudsters from real law enforcement officials. However, this did not save the woman from a new deception.
The fraudster said that the perpetrators had been identified and now the pensioner was entitled to compensation. Under this pretext, he asked her for her passport details. Some time later, the woman discovered that 42 thousand rubles had disappeared from her bank account.
A criminal case has been opened into the theft, and the police are conducting operational measures.
Law enforcement officers once again remind you: if you have previously been a victim of remote fraud, be especially vigilant. Do not trust strangers who promise to return money and introduce themselves as law enforcement officers. Do not give them any personal information and be sure to inform the police officers who handled your case about such contacts.
