According to Kirovstat, in 2024, the housing stock of the Kirov region increased by about 1% and amounted to 36.3 million square meters. m. There is now an average of 32.4 square meters per inhabitant of the region, which is more than a year earlier (31.8 square meters). According to this indicator, the region ranked 5th among the regions of the Volga Federal District.
Almost three quarters of the total residential area (72%) are located in urban-type cities and towns. This is above the average level in the Volga Federal District (68%). 169 thousand individual houses, 67 thousand apartment buildings and about 2 thousand houses of blocked buildings are registered in the region. At the same time, the majority of the housing area (72%) is in apartment buildings.
Most of all in the Kirov region are brick houses: they account for 42% of the total area. Wooden and panel houses occupy 34% and 15%, respectively. In terms of the share of housing in wooden houses, the region is the leader in the Volga Federal District.
In total, at the end of the year, there were 730 thousand apartments in the region, of which 559 thousand were in apartment buildings. The average apartment size is 49 sq. m. For one—room apartments, this figure is 34 sq. m., for two—room apartments — 47 sq. m., three—room apartments - 63 sq. m., and for four-room apartments and more - 119 sq. m
. As noted in Kirovstat, the authorities continue to pay attention to housing policy issues, including the provision of housing and its qualitative characteristics.
