Rospotrebnadzor will be able to conduct unscheduled inspections without the approval of the prosecutor's office

      In 2025, Rospotrebnadzor may be able to travel again for unscheduled inspections on consumer complaints without prior approval from the prosecutor's office. This is reported by Izvestia, citing a source in the State Duma.

      Amendments to Federal Law No. 248 "On State Control" have already found support among some parliamentarians. The innovation will allow the sanitary service to respond to citizens' appeals, media publications, messages from public organizations, as well as signals from the Honest Sign labeling system within 24 hours. At the same time, the business will not be notified about the verification in advance.

      As the authors of the initiative explain, the reform is necessary against the background of an increase in the number of cases of food poisoning and deterioration of sanitary conditions. In 2024, Rospotrebnadzor recorded the maximum number of violations in culinary samples in a decade — 6.89%. A special resonance was caused by the case of mass botulism after eating beans: more than 400 people were injured, two died.

      First of all, catering establishments, manufacturers of ready-made food, retail chains and light industry companies will come under increased control. Oversight of organizations with recurring violations or negative mentions in open sources will be a priority.

      According to experts, easing the moratorium on inspections in force since 2020 can improve product quality and protect the interests of a bona fide business. At the same time, representatives of the restaurant industry express concerns about a possible increase in fines and the risk of pressure from regulatory authorities.
