      By 2030, 10 waste treatment facilities are planned to be created in the Kirov region, the regional government said. These plans were announced by the Regional Minister of Environmental Protection Timur Abashev.

      "In 2024, six facilities were reclaimed in the Kirov Region as part of the federal Clean Country project. The largest of them is the landfill in the village of Kostino. Activities at two landfills in Malmyzh and Omutninsk, as well as the landfill in Urzhum, were completed ahead of schedule. Project documentation is being developed for the remediation of five more objects of accumulated environmental damage. Together with local governments, 374 municipal landfills have been eliminated," the minister said.

      By the end of 2030, it is planned to create 10 MSW management infrastructure facilities in the Kirov region. The most significant project for the region is the construction of the largest MSW sorting and recycling facility, Tsentralny, in the Slobodsky district with a processing capacity of at least 200 thousand tons of MSW per year. As of today, preparatory work has been completed at the site, and the foundations of buildings on the site are being installed.

      Positive conclusions of the state expertise were received for the construction of two waste sorting stations in the Shabalinsky district and the Luzsky municipal district with a capacity of 15 and 10 thousand tons per year, respectively. The design of a complex facility in Vyatskopolyansky and Yaransky districts has been completed. The construction of these facilities is planned from 2026 to 2028.
