
2,337 people were bitten by ticks in the Kirov region.
Over the past week, 2,337 people affected by tick bites have contacted doctors, including 364 children. 9 cases of tick—borne encephalitis and 13 cases of borreliosis have been reported in the region. One of the patients with encephalitis is a child.
Experts note that the peak of tick activity traditionally occurs in May and June. In this regard, the treatment of territories against ticks continues in the region. During the week, plots with a total area of more than 2,000 hectares were cultivated, including country camps and other places of mass recreation.
Tests of ticks taken from people showed a high level of infection. Almost half of the ticks studied were carriers of borreliosis. Cases of infection with encephalitis, ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis have also been identified.
Most of the bites occurred outside Kirov. The largest number of appeals was recorded in Kirovo-Chepetsky, Orichevsky, Slobodsky and Yuryansky districts.
