In the Kirov region, every fourth traffic accident is involving pedestrians.

      Every fourth accident in the Kirov region is associated with hitting a pedestrian. Since the beginning of the year, 7 people have died and 134 others have been injured in such incidents in the region. This is reported by the regional State Traffic Inspectorate.

      The ministry emphasizes that despite the fact that all road users have risks on the road, it is pedestrians who are most often in danger — they are not physically protected and in the event of an accident they receive the most severe injuries.

      "You should cross the road only at a pedestrian crossing, after putting your phone in your pocket. It is necessary to monitor the situation around you and take action in advance if something causes concern. Life and health depend on mindfulness," the traffic police remind.

      If there is no crosswalk nearby, cross the roadway along the sidewalk line, at a right angle, after making sure that it is safe. It is also important not to forget about the retroreflective elements: thanks to them, the driver will be able to spot a pedestrian at a distance of up to 150 m.

      The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Kirov region urges to follow the Rules of the road, especially in difficult weather conditions, and to be as careful as possible on the roadway.
