Residents of house No. 69 on Kazanskaya Street are threatened with eviction if they do not restore the house.

Kirov residents living in the house number69 on Kazanskaya St. turned to the regional department of the Popular Front and told them that the city authorities had entrusted them with the task of restoring the cultural heritage site, which cost tens or maybe hundreds of millions of rubles.

The ONF reported that the historical complex of three buildings on Kazanskaya St., where the servants of the Savior Cathedral once lived, was recognized as an object of cultural heritage of federal significance in 1995. Since then, the local authorities have done nothing to maintain these houses. But before the anniversary of the city of Kirov, they still found money to paint the "front" side, located along the tourist route. And later, they released magnets with the image of these houses and began selling them to tourists. Meanwhile, the "inside" of the houses is in a deplorable state.

In 2022, the deputies of the Regional Council decided to exclude houses with less than five apartments from the regional overhaul program. The list also includes house No. 69 on Kazanskaya Street. Now the regional Department for the Protection of Cultural Heritage objects is trying to force people to do something that they have not done for years. Namely: to conduct historical and cultural expertise, to develop a reconstruction project and to carry out work on the restoration of the architectural monument. The lawsuit was filed only against the residents of house No. 69, and not the entire complex of historical buildings, the ONF noted and suggested that, perhaps, because there are non-residential municipal premises in other buildings that the city authorities are required to maintain.

The residents of this building told the community that they were being threatened with eviction. "We are told that a court decision will impose multimillion-dollar costs on us, and then we may be evicted from our home for non-compliance with the court decision," the residents said. The activists noted that all these years, people have been maintaining the condition of the house as best they could: they have changed communications at their own expense. But it is simply unrealistic for several pensioners to carry out an examination and restoration costing several tens of millions of rubles.

"Now the Window Protection Department refers to the fact that, according to the law, owners are required to maintain their homes. And even participation in the overhaul program does not exempt you from this obligation. That's how it is. You can only save for major repairs for decades and never save up. But here people are given only a few months. At the same time, the preservation of cultural heritage sites is still the responsibility of the state," the social activists noted.

The Popular Front has sent an appeal to the prosecutor's office.
