The digital ruble will be available to clients of the largest banks starting September 1.
Starting from September 1, 2026, the largest banks and retail companies will begin connecting their infrastructure to work with digital rubles. If desired, citizens will be able to use the new form of national currency.
To do this, it is necessary to open an account on the Bank of Russia's platform. This can be done through a special section in the mobile application of the bank connected to the platform. An individual and a company can have one such account, while an individual entrepreneur can have two: personal and for business.
Citizens will be able to top up their digital wallet from their bank accounts for amounts up to 300,000 rubles per month. There are no restrictions on top-ups for businesses. At the same time, users will be able to manage the funds in their digital wallet without restrictions: they will be able to transfer money to other citizens and companies, pay for purchases, make payments to the budget, and receive payments from the budget.
Transfers and payments in digital rubles for citizens will be free. For businesses, a period without commissions for payments and transfers will be established until the end of 2026. Starting in 2027, tariffs will come into effect for individual entrepreneurs and companies. Authorities promise that they will be minimal.
For questions regarding the digital ruble, users will be able to contact their bank. If the issue cannot be resolved, they can call the round-the-clock hotline of the Bank of Russia for the digital ruble at 8-800-301-30-00 (the call is free within Russia). The numbers 301 (free for subscribers of mobile operators) and +7-499-300-33-01 (according to the operator's tariffs) are also available.
