The government of the Kirov region has approved a list of dangerous invasive plants that need to be identified, destroyed, and prevented from spreading. The corresponding decree No. 415-P was adopted on August 28 and signed by the chairman of the regional government, Mikhail Sandalov.
Only Sosnowski's hogweed made it to the main list. The document states that measures should be taken regarding it to identify, prevent its spread, and destroy it.
A separate list was compiled for specially protected natural areas of regional and local significance. In addition to Sosnowski's hogweed, it includes the ash-leaved maple.
Invasive species are foreign species that can spread in nature and displace local plants. Their appearance in the specified areas must now be identified, and their spread must be prevented.
The decree came into effect on the day of its official publication.
