The EU demanded that Armenia introduce visas for Russians and support sanctions.

The European Union intends to demand that Armenia introduce a visa regime for Russian citizens and join the existing anti-Russian sanctions. As reported by mk.ru, this was stated by European Parliament member Fernand Cartheiser, who previously served on the committee for parliamentary cooperation with Armenia.

According to the parliamentarian, meeting these demands is seen as one of the conditions for further rapprochement between Yerevan and the European Union. At the same time, Cartheiser himself expressed doubt that Brussels would be able to compensate Armenia for the possible economic and political consequences of such decisions.

The publication also notes that the issue is being discussed against the backdrop of Armenia's close economic ties with Russia. In 2025, Russians accounted for nearly 40% of all foreign tourists visiting the republic, and the volume of remittances from Russia reached $3.87 billion.
