According to the police, a 51-year-old woman from Kirov met a man on a dating site. During their communication, he showed her his apartment via video call after a recent renovation. The woman said that she also planned to update the decor in her home. Then the interlocutor suggested that she contact a builder he knew, who would supposedly do the work quickly and cheaply. He claimed that he would contact the craftsman himself and oversee the process.
To purchase materials, the man asked her to transfer money. The woman took out a loan of 1.5 million rubles from the bank and tried to send the funds to the specified details. However, the bank rejected the transaction and blocked her card. When the woman told a friend about this, he began to persuade her to urgently unblock the account and repeat the transfer.
The man's insistence seemed suspicious to the woman. She told her son about the situation, who explained to her that she was dealing with scammers. In the end, the money remained in her account.
A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of attempted fraud on a particularly large scale. The police are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident. Law enforcement reminds: it is not advisable to transfer money to strangers, even if the communication seems trustworthy. Caution should be exercised when meeting people online, especially if the interlocutor starts asking to pay for services, purchases, or other expenses.
