Kirov residents will be able to light a virtual candle.

On June 10, an online event called "Candle of Memory" will start in Russia. It will last until June 22 — the day the Great Patriotic War began. This was reported by the press service of the Kirov administration.

You can participate in the event through the website denpamjati.rf, where users are invited to light a virtual candle in memory of those who died during the war years. After that, the candle will appear on an interactive map, where you can see the number of participants from your region.

The event has been held since 2004. Initially, it took place in person, when people went out into the streets and lit candles of memory. The online format emerged in 2020 during the pandemic and later remained as an additional opportunity for residents of different regions of the country to participate.

The website also features archival materials and memories from participants of wartime events: front-line soldiers, residents of besieged Leningrad, rear workers, and former concentration camp prisoners.
